The lead up to the Eurovision Song Contest has always proven interesting because there have always been a number of surprises and yesterday was no different with a large amount of shows taking place in a number countries. The importance of the spectacles were different, with some countries hosting finals, as opposed to others who presented semi-finals hoping that the right material is eventually selection. At the end of the evening, the songs from Ukraine, Latvia and Croatia were revealed whilst finalists from Sweden, Lithuania and Estonia were decided.

The popular Melodifestivalen went into its' third semi-final last night and it was one which involved quite an astonishing number of popular names. In the long run, the results might not have been the ones which the people might not have expecting but the city of Leksand did prove to be an interesting city to host the event nevertheless. The results were clear and obvious and the differences in genres is already quite the issue at hand.

Direct to Globen:

  1. Molly Sandén - Why am I crying
  2. Björn Ranelid ft. Sara Li - Mirakel

To The 'Andra Chansen':

  1. Youngblood - Youngblood
  2. Andreas Johnson - Lovelight

The second country which held a semi-final last night was Lithuania whose pre-selection does consist of four different semi-finals and a final. The shows which include pre-recorded performances are being aired on consecutive Saturdays and only one remains to be seen now, that being on the 25th February at 20:00 CET. From each show, there are three (3) acts which are chosen through a mixture of 50% Jury and 50% Tele-Voting. The final will be taking place on the 3rd March 2012 featuring a super-final with the Jury alone deciding the entry and representative. One could note the qualifiers of last night just below.

  1. Monika - Happy
  2. Vig Roses - Come back home
  3. Bekeso Vilkai - Letter by letter

The last show of the evening was that held in Estonia, the nation which kicked off their respective selection process. Two semi-finals featuring ten (10) entries in each one are being presented with a total of five (5) acts from each making it to the final stage of the competition. As it is in many other countries, decisions have to be made through a mixture of 50% Jury and 50% Tele-Voting. As has been the case most of the time, Estonia are very avant garde in terms of musical quality. The finalists thus far could be noted just underneath.

  1. August Hunt - Tantsulõvi
  2. Loss Paranoias - Valedetektor
  3. Ott Lepland - Kuula
  4. Liis Lemsalu - Made up my mind
  5. Pop Maniacs - I don't know
