A new breath of life is exerted onto the Maltese music scene when an artist manages to do what many up and coming artists wish to do and that is release an album with a compilation of original songs. After the successful launches of acts like Jessica Muscat, Eleanor Cassar, Pamela Bezzina, Claudia Faniello, Airport Impressions, Kurt Calleja and Red Elektric, another one came quickly out of nowhere, and that is the one of Priscilla Psaila who has recently been remodeling herself as Kaya.

The singer first burst out onto the music scene making it to the 2000 Malta Song fore Europe final where her song 'Our Love' composed by Alfred Zammit and penned by Cynthia Sammut finished as the second runner-up following Claudette Pace and Fabrizio Faniello who held the top posts and honours for that year. She went onto win a number of prestigious local festivals including the Għanja tal-Poplu in 2001 with the song 'Tisimgħu Tissaħħar" performed with the 'Budaj' and then the 2007 Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza with the aid of Ivan Borg in 'Dan Hu L-Mument', also finishing second twice in this festival, once in 2006, and once in 2009.

She has also been Malta's ambassador in a number of international competitions yet her desire to succeed has never left her and it shouldn't either with the singer recently discovered by Hit Movie Composer William Camilleri helping her to expand into the unknown horizon and go into that outside world performing in the Fashion Week in New York to millions of audiences on the television and thousands in the hall. Her debut album which will bear the name 'Your Touch' will be launched at the Smoko Bar in Bugibba next Wednesday 30th March 2011. ESCflashmalta will be present during the event and we will bring you some pictures.

It seems that Richard Edwards has a surprise up his sleeve to all the fans that have supported him this year and those who showed interest in his entry which is penned by himself to the music of Jan Van Dijck. Recently added photos on Facebook by some of his friends/colleagues indicated that Richard was shooting a video for ‘Finally’ and our website has been in contact with the artist where he confirmed the news and said that the video will be out shortly. If I’m not mistaken, this will actually be the first runner up entry in the Malta Eurovision to have a video accompanying it.

A number of people commented about the fact that ‘Finally’ is a great entry which would have done Malta proud at the Eurovision Song Contest. The song finished a close second with two points behind the winner, after winning the jury vote and coming in third in the public vote. After that the song received positive feedback from all the Maltese and international followers alike. Richard Edwards just confirmed through his Facebook page that he’ll be releasing the video of his ever so popular song tomorrow exclusively on Clint On One, which is aired on ONE TV on Saturday Morning. So watch out our website because we’ll put it up as soon as it is released.

The Maltese Islands are full of clear cut and beautiful voices which entertain the people all the year round through concerts, festivals and other musical showcases but one of the events in which the people flock in numbers to attend is surely "VOICES", a concert which features a 200-strong choir performing some of the worlds' most amazing hits but the best thing is that all proceeds from ticket sales go to charity.

This years' edition which is being held between the 6th and 10th October as well as the 13th and 17th October is being run under the title theme of "LISTEN TO THE MUSIC" as you can see in the logo above. This year there will be a repertoire of songs which includes Volare, Nessun Dorma, Hallelujah, Viva La Vida and Philadelphia Freedom amongst other surprises. Some of the performers in the show include well known artists such as Jackie Pace Delicata (Backing Vocalist with Thea Garrett), Raquela (Malta Eurosong 2009), Claire McCartin (Malta Eurosong 2010), Dorothy Bezzina (Malta Eurosong 2009, 2010) as well as Andrew Barberi and Gillian Portelli (Malta Eurosong 2009 as part of The Elements) amongst many other great singers who unite together through a great cause in their love of music.

Since the concert of "VOICES" began back in 1991, all of the people involved offer their time on a completely voluntary basis yet their talents have been witnessed by huge flock of people and thus proceedings from sales have amounted to a total of €1.2 million which in turn have been handed out to charities. Tickets for this years' edition costing between €15 and €25 have been on sale since 10 days ago and only a few remain. You can buy them either through www.voices.org.mt, the Mediterranean Conference Centre Booking Office as well as the Booking Office of the Manoel Theatre. I have managed to get my ticket but have you?

In the meantime, "VOICES" would also like to thank  its title sponsor, Vodafone Malta Foundation, as well as its other sponsors: The National Lotteries Good Causes Fund, Banif Bank, Island Caterers, Kinnie, Studio Seven, The Sound System, Actavis, NIU, Martini, Big Bon, San Michel and XFM Radio, the official radio station for Voices 2010.

The organizer of the event, Mr. Dono Tsvetkov always had a very good relationship with the singer as well as with the Maltese music scene and this has prompted such an invite quite quickly. During this event, the local star is expected to interpret "He lives in you" from the musical Lion King, "Bridge Over Troubled Water" by Simon & Garfunkel, "Somewhere" from the musical West Side Story and "Nessun Dorma" from the opera Tourandot.
