Junior Eurovision Song Contest

Junior Eurovision Song Contest (122)

Since 2010, Romania has been absent from the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, owing to lack of interest and an extremely disappointing last place finish back in 2009 with the track 'Ai Puterea în Mâna Ta' sung by Ioana Bianca Anuta. In a reply to an email sent to Bianca Dinescu of TVR, a representative of the public broadcaster in Romania, the chances of participation have been significantly downplayed. "As the situation lays, I don’t think there are chances to participate". Bianca believes that there might be better news for 2015 though. Romania was one of the first countries to partake…
It seems that the European Broadcasting Union and the Public Broadcasting Services are working extremely well together to ensure that this year's edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest is successful considering that 12 countries have already confirmed participation. This is the same number of countries which had participated in the 2013 edition which took place in Kiev, Ukraine although it seems that a couple of more participating nation will be either making their return or their debut according to circulating rumours. Apart from Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Russia, Sweden, The Netherlands, and Ukraine who all took part in the 2013…
RTCG, the public broadcaster of Montenegro, responsible for the nation's participation in events organised by the European Broadcasting Union have confirmed their debut in this year's edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest taking place in Malta. This will be the second country to mark it's debut in the event, following in the footsteps of Italy, whose representative broadcaster, RAI Gulp, confirmed participation a couple of days back. At this moment in time, Montenegro has not divulged the manner in which the act will be chosen but it is highly likely that they will follow their recent internal selection success…
NERIT, the public broadcaster responsible for the participation of Greece at events organised by the European Broadcasting Union was thought to be inches away from confirming participation in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, but unfortunately, this was not the case as the Hellenic nation will not be returning in 2014. The confirmation of Cyprus last week should have been the final bargaining point for Greece but as the new broadcaster continues to search for financial support, it was always going to be difficult for a competition return, especially with rumours of support for the senior edition of the Eurovision Song…
"The Start", co-written by Gillian Attard, Elton Zarb, Matthew Mercieca and Gaia Cauchi, with the latter also being the vocalist, gave Malta a renewed hope of success in international music competitions. As a result of this success, the Public Broadcasting Services sent in a formal bid to host the 2014 edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Eventually, the paperwork was signed and Malta became host nation, a role which is being taken extremely seriously. The Public Broadcasting Services is recruiting a series of volunteers in various areas of the production team in order to ensure that everything runs smoothly.…
In just a couple of months, Malta will be hosting this year's edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest following Gaia Cauchi's triumph with "The Start", a song which she co-wrote with Elton Zarb, Matt Mercieca and Gillian Attard. As soon as victory was assured, the Public Broadcasting Services entered into talks with the European Broadcasting Union to hold the event in the Mediterranean Island, with the general public buzzing over the stupendous showing. It seems that participating countries for the show are on the increase and following the supposed debut of Iceland, it seems that Italy will also be…
In just a couple of months, Malta will be playing host to this year's edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest having been chosen by the European Broadcasting Union following their victory with "The Start" co-written by Gillian Attard, Elton Zarb, Matthew Mercieca and Gaia Cauchi, the latter also responsible for the superb vocals. With the Steering Committee travelling to Malta twice, first time round to analyse the potential venues and second time round to make some announcements, as well as see what vision the Public Broadcasting Services has for the event, the European Broadcasting Union has officially confirmed the…
Earlier this year, Federica Falzon was revealed to be the first artist for the 2014 edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest taking place in Malta, but following a national final which took place a couple of days ago, the first entry was also selected. "Du är Inte Ensam" is the track that won the hearts of the professional jury during Lilla Melodifestivalen with vocals provided by 14-year old, Julia Kedhammar. It has become somewhat of a tradition for Sweden to be the first country to select their entry and act for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Julia won the…
Since 2010, Romania has been absent from the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, owing to lack of interest and an extremely disappointing last place finish back in 2009 with the track 'Ai Puterea în Mâna Ta' sung by Ioana Bianca Anuta. In a reply to an email sent to Bianca Dinescu of TVR, a representative of the public broadcaster in Romania, it seems that there is a slight possibility that the country could return to the competition although 'It's too soon to tell'. Romania was one of the first countries to partake in the international competition, with their seven consecutive participations…
It has only been a couple of days since the curtain came down on yet another successful edition of the Eurovision Song Contest and whilst attention is shifting to the Eurovision Young Musicians which is taking place in Cologne, Germany on the 31st May 2014, preparations are also well underway for this year's edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest which will be staged in Malta. MTVA and RUV, the respective public broadcasters in Hungary and Iceland have recently both made public their positive sentiment in taking part in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest for the very first time as…
