Sweden: Loreen Releases New Material

Loreen, the winner of the 2012 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest is preparing the release of two new singles to the music industry, one entitled Crying Out Your Name written in a collaboration between Niklas Jarl, Ana Diaz and Moh Denebi, the first out of which is known for co-writing the Irish entry Waterline at this years' edition of the prestigious music event held in Baku, Azerbaijan; with the second one bearing the title My Heart if Refusing Me which was of course her Melodifestivalen entry in 2011 failing to make it through to the final stages of the Melodifestivalen despite being a huge fan favourite.

On Monday, 8th October, both singles will be released respectively to radio and also digital outlets in the Scandinavian countries for the latter and then in other European countries for the former. The album which has been given the name Heal will surely be one to watch out for in the coming weeks with Loreen working with some of the most prolific songwriters in Scandinavia to make sure that her sound remains authentic. The release date is planned for the 24th October through Warner Music Sweden. Following the huge success of Euphoria throughout the summer, there are a number of huge things expected for the shy and somewhat reserved Swedish performer. Stay tuned to escflashmalta.com for all of the latest news as soon as it becomes available.

Till now, 24 countries have confirmed to share their music with the millions of viewers of Europe’s favourite show for next year which is the Eurovision Song Contest which is to be held in Malmo, Sweden after Loreen’s well-deserved win.

A country which is deeply-missed from this contest is surely Luxembourg. The country played it’s fortune in the contest for 37 years with their last appearance back in 1993 when the band Modern Times ended up in the 20th place with just eleven (11) points. Octavie Modert (The minister in charge of culture) said that the decision regarding their 2013 participation depends on the broadcaster’s decision as the costs are relatively high. Although he also said that the country didn’t achieve great success in the past, one has to keep in mind that the country managed to win this prestigious contest five times in total.

Their withdrawal was due to the bad results that the country had achieved in the last couple of years that they had presented entries. Nevertheless, one has to point out that the best placing garnered in recent years was when Lara Fabian performed the song Croire and managed to finish in fourth place. This was the beginning of a long and successful career for the performer who is very much well known all over the world. We’d really like to see this country back on track so the Eurovision season would be more interesting and as they say; the more, the merrier!. Stay tuned to escflashmalta.com for all of the latest news about the 2013 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest.

I hope I will make citizens of B&H proud and that they will appreciate my job”.

She also said that her favourite song from all the other 41 competitors is Ott Lepland’s song ‘Kuula’ which is representing Estonia. She also said that she likes the current hot favourite of the contest; Sweden. And as for the Balkans she said that Željko, Nina, Amadeus and Kaliopi are all special in their own way for the simple reason that they present who they actually are. There will also be an an Italian version of ‘Korake ti znam’ which is to be released very soon as the English version can be seen below. It has been confirmed by RTVS that the singer who will represent Slovakia in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest held in Baku, Azerbaijan will be Miro Šmajda who is also known by his stage name Max Jason Mai. The song which will be competing in the 2nd part of our semifinal; the second one is titled “Don’t close your Eyes”.

Slovakia has changed its style once again as this time, the song can be described as a pop/rock one with elements of a Greenday feel. It will be the 7th representative from Slovakia as the country had only participated in 1994, 1996,1998,2009,2010 and 2011. Unfortunately, Slovakia in the history of Eurovision has got no success as the best result was when they placed 18th back in 1996. One should also note the relationship between Malta and Slovakia is quite strong. This is due to the statistics that show how Malta was the country who received the most amount of points from this country. The story is vice-versa too as Slovakia has received the most points from our country Malta. We would like to wish Slovakia the best of luck as they compete in the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest. Stay tuned to ESCflashmalta for all of the latest news.

The Netherlands: The Stakes are Running High

The Dutch are also aiming for the best representative with the hope of sailing through to the finals next May. The last time, The Netherlands had been in the final was back in 2004 where the duet “Without You” finished in a disappointing 21st in the final night.

This year’s winner is to be decided by a 50% stake, meaning; 50% in the judges’ hands and another 50% tele-voting. The 5 judges have been revealed and these consist:

• Carlo Boszhard (TV personality, singer, impersonator and host)

• Ali B (rapper)

• Afrojack (Dj)

• Stacey Rookhuizen (entrepreneur and presenter)

• Jeroen Nieuwenhuize (radio DJ)

The 6 acts which will be competing against each other with the hope of getting the right to represent The Netherlands in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest held in Baku are:

01. Raffaella - Chocolatte (Jan Rooymans, Chris Silos)

05. Kim de Boer - Children of the world (Martijn Schimmer)

06. Tim Douwsma - Undercover lover (Bruce R. F. Smith, Michel van der Zanden)

The Dutch Nationaal Songfestival is about to take place on the 26th of February and is shaping its competition in the form of 3 ‘duels’. A duel is another term for a knock-out. One song competes against another one, and the one which gets the highest mark, makes it through to the super-final. The superfinal will end up with 3 songs where the 50% stake will pick up the winner. It is to be noted that just like Malta, The Netherland will be competing in the first half of the second semifinal.
