In 1951, following the aftermath of the Second World War, it was decided that a music competition was to be held, eyeing to strengthen the economy and lighten up the mood. It is quite remarkable, that the same competition, Sanremo, is still running strong in 2015. During the course of the next 5 days, Italy will not only be showcasing the best their local music scene is known to offer, but will also provide lots of entertainment, even courtesy of foreign guests.

With such a strong following in Malta, escflashmalta.com has enlisted the support of five celebrities in Malta, all of whom are familiar faces in the music industry, who will help assess the quality of the songs, and also the vocalists, in what has been coined the most reputable line-up for the Sanremo Music Festival in years.

In 2015, the prestigious Italian Festival, Sanremo wlil take place between the 10th and the 14th February, with the main host being none other than Carlo Conti, one of the most popular television presenters on RAI Uno, mainly known for the quiz show "L'Eredita". Earlier today, during the afternoon, the artists, and the song titles were announced in a television programme, ending the endless speculation all over the internet, and the media in general.

One of the most interesting points it that rather than 16 entries, there will be 20, in order to ascertain a good level of talent, in terms of musicianship, and songwriting. Nevertheless, on the final night of the week long competition, only 16 will be in contention with 4 being eliminated during the first 3 nights. The finalists will then be eligible to represent Italy in the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, Austria.

The list features a number of veterans, and newcomers, but of course, the one name which causes the most intrigue is surely the one of Lara Fabian, a worldwide star from Canada, who is now based in Belgium and France. and who represented Luxembourg in the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Croire" finishing in 4th place. Other former representatives include RAF who represented Italy in the 1987 Eurovision Song Contest with "Gente di Mare" as well as Nina Zilli who also represented Italy in the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest with "L'Amore e Femmina". Italy: RAI Participation Confirmed

The Italian music scene has gone through a very positive period in recent years noting that some of the artists to come out of the nation have proven successful not only locally but even in foreign waters due to a number of collaborations or adaptations in other languages; taking into account the likes of Eros Ramazzotti and Laura Pausini amongst others. Nevertheless, one of the promotional techniques for a continental setting is surely the Eurovision Song Contest, one of the reasons why Italy returned to the competition two years ago albeit with a broadcaster on RAI 5 for the semi-final and RAI 2 for the final respectively. There seems to be renewed life into the competition with even ratings posting a positive improvement on a year by year analysis between 2011 and 2012 respectively when the country managed two top ten positions. Despite no official announcement made by the broadcaster, RAI, news has now officially leaked out that Italy will be taking part in the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest despite no mention in the press launch of the Sanremo competition earlier this year.

Back in 2011, Italy was represented by Raphael Gualazzi with the track Madness of Love which surprisingly finished in the first runner-up position and making a statement that the nation was here to compete and achieve success. The promotional campaign in 2012 was far stronger especially when an artist who had already some form of success in the vein of Nina Zilli was chosen with the track L'Amore e Femmina (Out of Love) but the connection was not really there it seems because only a high jury placing secured her a ninth place just ahead of Spain in Baku, Azerbaijan. The official announcement from RAI will be expected in the next couple of days it seems but nevertheless, there is already an interest to see who will ultimately represent Italy in Malmo, Sweden. Many pundits say that the people would like to have a choice in the representative and that would definitely be one way how to raise viewing figures. Stay tuned to escflashmalta.com in the coming days and weeks to see how this all pans out.

Sweden seems to be the country to beat in the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest but according to pundits, Italy might be one of those countries who can cause the upset because Nina Zilli and her entry bearing the title L'Amore È Femmina (Out Of Love) seem to have the potential to become a renowned song in both the history of the competition and in several charts across the continent. When the singer was announced following Sanremo held in February, there were gasps from the world of Italian music and the Eurovision because Nina is not an upcoming artist and is currently signed to Universal Music Italy with which she has released two studio albums, the first being Sempre Lontano which peaked at number #5 and the second being L'Amore È Femmina which managed to climb to number #11 which is also relatively good.

In the past couple of weeks, Nina has been putting up a series of one off concerts in support of her participation in the Eurovision Song Contest and also her album but she has also made a number of television appearances. There are a lot of high hopes in Italy that she could achieve yet another great result and I truly believe that they could be the ones to beat Sweden come two weeks time when the actual event takes place. The song has been reworked into a bi-lingual version as one could note from the title. The official video of the track was released earlier this week and the bi-lingual version also followed. You could view the video just below and one can also see how much effort is being put in by both RAI and Universal Music Italy to make sure that Nina gives a very good performance in Baku, Azerbaijan. Remember that Malta is competing in the second semi-final with Kurt Calleja and his entry This Is The Night. Stay tuned to all the latest news with escflashmalta.com as we aim to continue covering the event.

The 2012 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest is taking place in Baku, Azerbaijan and it is quite interesting to note that whilst the preparations are going on at full speed, several countries are finishing off their promotional tours noting the visits of the Turkish and Azeri representatives in the Maltese Islands over the past couple of days. In the meantime, many have been keeping an eye on the way that the polls and the betting odds have been developing and it seems that there have been no changes in recent days or weeks apart from  a switch between the second and third position. The leading country for this years' competition is Sweden who are represented by a track entitled Euphoria which has been described as a mixture between dance and pop and performed by Loreen.

Nevertheless, despite the fact that the Melodifestivalen winner seems to be the favourite even in terms of sales noting that it has charted at number #1 in Sweden and Finland whilst also making the charts in countries such as Norway and Malta, there are another four tracks which together make up the top five and in fact these are L'Amore e Femmina performed by Nina Zilli for Italy, then it would be Buranovskiye Babushki with their song Party for Everybody for Russia. In fourth place comes Serbia with Zeljko Joksimovic and his beautiful ballad Nije Ljubav Stvar and then in fifth place it would be the United Kingdom and their represented Engelbert Humperdinck with the classic entry Love Will Set You Free. Other notable names which have kept high positions in this years' betting odds include none other than Ireland who are represented by Jedward and Waterline as well as Iceland whose Greta Salome and Jonsi will perform the entry Never ForgetKeep a close eye on the songs that will be presented in this years' edition of the Eurovision Song Contest.
