There are a number of young emerging artists on our islands but one who is slowly becoming a fixture to success is no other than Destiny Chukunyere. She represented Malta successfully in Italy in the SanRemo Junior after winning the local competition; she managed to triumph amongst even tougher competition abroad. Destiny is coached by IVA tutor Ms. Maria Abdilla who helps her with her technique and stage performance.

Her hard work is surely paying off because after her triumph in Italy, soon after Destiny started working on her first original song in Maltese. She went on to reach the finals of the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza Junior and her song ‘Festa T’Ilwien’ written by Mark Spiteri Lucas and Emil Calleja Bayliss finished in third place. It was surely another success is her young career especially considering it was the very first time singing in Maltese – a language she loves but was always a bit weary on singing in it.

Thanks to Erseb Productions, led by the Said family, Destiny got to opportunity to represent Malta in Prilep, Macedonia along with Nathaniel Attard. Both artists in fact competed with original songs, Nathaniel sang ‘Ilgħabu Miegħi’ a song composed by Phylisienne Brincat to the lyrics of Christopher Azzopardi whilst Destiny sang ‘Live & Let Live’ a song composed by Mark Spiteri Lucas to the lyrics of Emil Calleja Bayliss.

Both artists emerged victorious with Nathianiel Attard finishing in second place and Destiny Chukunyere finishing in first place and also winning the Grand Prix of this event. One must note that this is a very prestigious event in Macedonia and many consider it the Junior Eurovision of the East since the singers compete with original songs. Malta, once again left the right impression in Macedonia as all nine judges were impressed with the quality of the songs presented by the Maltese and the finesse of their voices.

As time goes by, the country’s talent keeps flourishing and keeps getting recognition from abroad. It is amazing to see that the rock in the Mediterranean Sea has lots and lots to offer in fact a lot refer to Malta as the tiny island with huge talent. Kudos goes to the composers and authors who continue to seek on improving their product, to the producers who keep challenging in making sure the sound is strong and authentic and also to the tutors who push their students in reaching new heights. Lyndsay, a female singer/songwriter with countless hit singles to her name, including "Daphne" and "Letter 25", is definitely not one to shy away from a challenge, as noted with the release of her latest single, "Regent Street", written by singer/songwriter jon lukas woodenman and produced by Niki Gravino. Whilst having grown accustomed to performing a mixture of ballads, Lyndsay has decided to move away from her comfort zone with this brand new single, due to the idea of a less commercial sound.

Nevertheless, radio stations have picked up the track relatively quickly, and the reviews have been extremely positive. In support of the release, the female singer/songwriter has also issued a music video, which features the busy street life in the United Kingdom, as well as jon lukas woodenman himself. Whilst this particular sound is very much, like it or hate it, we sway towards the former, and well done to Lyndsay on trying something different.
