As the competition is about to get started. The 2014 entries are still receiving success in Europe’s music charts. Sweden, Germany, Denmark, Norway and Spain have all managed to stay in the charts in at least three other countries. Molly has managed a top 40 placing in the UK, which has proved difficult for the majority of UK entries for the past 15 years especially this close to the competition.

I cannot recall when Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Malta, Belarus and Finland all had a spot in the top 40 prior to the competition. Malta (one of the smallest participating countries) is also still in the Swedish Top 100, whilst all three Scandinavian countries are still in their native top 40s. They appear to have drummed up a lot of home support this year and it is impressive given the amount of time that has passed since the national finals.

Whilst this alone is probably not a good indication of the likely winner, it is certainly reassuring to see that the competition’s music is still getting airplay. Even those with lower betting odds are still managing to hold on to places across the continent. Stay tuned to escflashmalta.com even on Facebook and Twitter for all the latest news.

Amber, one of the most highly sought after female vocalists in Malta, and recent participant in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest with the song Because I Have You composed by Paul Giordimaina to the lyrics of Fleur Balzan has just become the first act from the competition to reach the top ten of the iTunes singles chart in Malta, despite releases by semi-finalists; Miriam Christine and Fabrizio Faniello as well as second runner-up; Daniel Testa.

In just a matter of hours, the accompaying video managed to garner more than 10,000 views which is astonishing within itself. Earlier this year, the Malta Eurovision Song Contest saw the return of Kevin Borg, one of the leading figures in the local music industry. The song entitled Needing You co-written with Thomas Thornholm, Simon Gribbe, Dan Attlerud, and Michael Clauss finished in the first runner-up position despite achieving maximum points from tele-vote. The jury believed that it was not the was not the most competent of the entries competing and their judgement was spot on considering that the eventual winning song entitled Tomorrow managed an eighth place finish at the Eurovision Song Contest, the best result for Malta since 2005.

The months of summer are known to be relatively tedious in Malta and therefore it comes to no surprise that the local population, joined by tourists have a party close to the beach or else go clubbing and it is for that reason that Kevin Borg has decided to release a special version of his song Needing You. This version, a club mix could also be purchased on iTunes, the digital media store where it has managed to climb to number #1 in Malta as well as in the top #100 in Sweden. The editorial team at escflashmalta.com recommends the purchase of this version for the simple reason that it has a good feel about it and deserves airplay throughout the whole summer. Stay tuned for more of the latest news.

Kevin Borg is one of the most notable names in the local music industry having achieved fame and success in Sweden following his victory in the Idol competition held on TV4 and then signing a record contract with Sony Music. In fact, he ended up releasing a debut album entitled The Beginning managing to reach number #3 in the Swedish charts before being given a cold certified disc due to achieving more than ten thousand units of sales. Since then though, he has always been busy in the industry working on new tracks for other artists as a songwriter and also appearing in a host of theatre productions such as High School Musical amongst others. Following the release of his last single Unstoppable which was a major digital hit, he returns with Christmas Time, a track written for the holidays.

Kevin Borg earned a lot of respect in the beginning of his career in his native land noting that he was increasing his popularity with every performance especially when remembering that he did make it through to the finals of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest back in 2006 with the track You're My Dream and also in 2007 with Whenever both composed by Jason Paul Cassar and penned by Sunny Aquilina. First time round, he finished in eighth place and second time, he also managed a fourth place. The brand new track is a heartfelt ballad with astonishing vocal range which will definitely be noted in this time of sentiments and emotions. Jagged House is promoting this year to be quite the hallmark in the career of Ira Losco noting that her former international debut was set quite a couple of years back with some of her original material being showcased in a number of foreign countries including Germany and Italy but nevertheless, there has never been a formal digital release of her material through online music stores before this week. The renowned female performer, initially rose for fame following her 2002 experience at the Eurovision Song Contest with the track 7th Wonder composed by Philip Vella and penned by Gerard James Borg but she has really come a long way since then, ultimately releasing a total of five original studio albums, one with remixes and another one comprising of acoustic tracks totaling them up to seven. Nevertheless, her record label has decided that her material needs to be promoted even internationally hence forth why a collaboration between Jagged House Limited and Albam Records came into effect for the release of Love Me or Hate Me.

The title of the album has a lot of connotation for the performer because it bears the name of the debut single following her experience at the Eurovision Song Contest meaning, the first time that she released something of a different genre that would ultimately see her transform into the pop/rock chic she has become in the past couple of years. The album which costs only €7.99 features a total of thirteen tracks including some of the artists' greatest hits including Shoulders of GiantsWaking Up to the LightDriving One of Your CarsEvery Day, a remix of her track Fortune Teller and last but not least, her latest single entitled What I'd Give which led the local charts on iTunes and also on 89.7 Bay for a couple of weeks. All of the tracks in the compilation album are actually written by Ira Losco and Howard Keith and have been published through Sony ATV and features a band made up of Alex Mallia on acoustic guitars, Peter Borg and Adam Bonello on electric guitars, Ivan Borg and Nadienne Sacco on bass guitar and Steve Muscat alongside Malcolm Pardon on the drums. There was also the addition of Adrian Brincat known as 'Ir-Russu' and Howard Keith on keyboards and additional guitars. You can purchase the album through iTunes where it currently lands at number #1 on the official charts. Stay tuned to escflashmalta.com in the coming days and weeks for more exclusive announcements.

Sweeping statements tend to hurt credibility of any individual within his respective line of work but then again, it has been noted on various occasions that there is a lot of local talent found in foreign waters due to the fact that several Maltese people had left the country many years back and thus ultimately creating their own respective families abroad where they would find their soul-mates. It seems that one of the latest discoveries in terms of artists in the scene is none other than Lauren Aquilina, a talented seventeen year old who is still breaking out with a raspy vocal very much in the vein of Birdy whose debut album Skinny Love reached number #1 in Australia, Belgium and The Netherlands as well as number #5 in France and #13 in the United Kingdom. Following the incredible vocals of Ira Losco, Natalie Gauci, Kevin Borg, Joseph Calleja, Fabrizio Faniello, Kurt Calleja and Chiara whose albums and singles have hit the charts abroad, here comes someone else, a completely new name and one which will definitely not remain unknown for too long.

Lauren Aquilina comes into the British music scene with the original track Fools which will be the debut release of an extended play which will be following in just a couple of weeks with October being the date put forth on the official Facebook page of the performer. The young teenager is extremely talented, so much so that a management has taken her under their wing and will be working to make sure that she receives all of the promotion possible. Malta has been looking for a fresh vocal who would be willing to do the honour at the Eurovision Song Contest and I must say that this would be a great representative, achieving what could be an extremely positive result but that is up to the people and the jury to decide in the long run. We are proud to carry her debut single which we urge you to purchase through iTunes and wish that you stay tuned to escflashmalta.com for more news in the days weeks to comes.

When the entries for the 2012 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest were being revealed, there was somewhat a moment in time when somebody stated that Sweden will be the song to beat this year as Loreen was set to take to the stage with the wonderful track Euphoria which mixes together pop and dance to create a song which many people would definitely listen to either in the sanctity of their very own homes or even within a club. Technically speaking, the song would have been an amazing winner one to be remember by many in years to come and when it was the runaway leader last night, it seemed that everything would be going perfectly right and so far that seems to be the case. Earlier on this evening, the Swedish Head of Delegation, Christer Bjorkman confirmed that the country is ready to host next years' event with a number of venues and cities to be confirmed even though the brand new arena in Stockholm which opened this year seems to be the early front runner. The winning song of this years' competition is already a huge hit in Europe.

Digital sales have somewhat become accountable to the way that things go about within the music industry at the moment and therefore, it definitely comes to no surprise that the people have already made their purchases of the track so much so that it has already climbed to the number #1 position in six countries being none other than MaltaCyprusDenmarkFinlandGreece and of course Sweden but then again it is also found in the runner-up position of number #2 in a total of three countries, these being none other than IrelandNorway and The Netherlands whilst one of the biggest markets in Europe, that being the one of Germany is also putting her in position #3 at the moment with the possibility of going higher very much realistic in the morning. We have compiled a list of the charts in Europe in order to show how much diversity there is when it comes to this entry. Below you will note the full lists of countries where the track has already hit the charts including the ones that have been mentioned above.

  • Malta (#1)
  • Cyprus (#1)
  • Denmark (#1)
  • Sweden (#1)
  • Greece (#1)
  • Finland (#1)
  • Ireland (#2)
  • Norway (#2)
  • The Netherlands (#2)
  • Austria (#4)
  • Belgium (#5)
  • Spain (#5)
  • United Kingdom (#12)
  • France (#32)
  • Portugal (#39)

This is only the beginning because it is important to note that Loreen and this track have been somewhat leading over these iTunes charts for quite some time and when having a look at them this evening, there are many songs coming from the Eurovision Song Contest including that of Malta whose This Is The Night seems to have managed to keep up the number #2 position in Malta as well as a brand new placing of #122 within Estonia who this year managed to finish in sixth place. It is always an interesting couple of charts to keep an eye on especially due to the fact that success on other charts, the official ones does not stay too far away most of the time. Stay tuned to escflashmalta.com for all of the latest updates from the world of the Eurovision Song Contest.

The Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2012 has proven to be one of the most successful ventures ever organized by the Public Broadcasting Services noting that there has been an overwhelming success of artists from the competition when it comes to the local iTunes shop where some of the songs were sold following respective arrangements between the songwriters and the performers. Up to this point, one could have noted down the release and peak of number #1 of both the winner being This Is The Night by Kurt Calleja who keeps to the top of the list for the second day running and also the first runner-up Pure by Claudia Faniello who managed to hold onto that elite number #1 position for a whole month just after the showcase. Apart from being a seasoned performed, Janvil has also been a host on Television Malta with his greatest showcase also being the Malta Song for Europe in 2007 alongside the likes of Stephanie Spiteri, currently a host on NET Television.
