The Fire, the sixth studio album release from Ira Losco is being seen as the most biographical especially following a rather long interlude in which she took a break from music. Her latest single release entitled Me Luv You Long Time is seen as a stunning track mixing together several genres including funk, pop and rock. When turning on a local radio station, it is one of the tracks which will be played on most of the stations in the country at the moment and that speaks volumes for Ira's career in general.

Ira has been in the industry for over ten years but she garnered major exposure following her first runner-up finish at the 2002 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. The international spectacle was a completely different event without the current semi-final system. Ultimately she was beaten by I Wanna, a track that represented Latvia and failed to become a known hit track. On Malta's Top Ten with Nathan D, the track is currently peaking at number #4 and will most likely head to the top in due course.

An official music video will most likely be unveiled within the next couple of weeks in order to aid promotion but nevertheless, if you would like to watch Ira Losco perform live, make sure to attend the Farsons Beer Festival on Sunday 28th July. Following a series of tracks from her latest and former albums, she will hold a meet and greet session with the people present. Stay tuned to for all of the latest news as soon as it becomes available.

Ira Losco, the female vocalist who represented Malta at the 2002 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest with the track 7th Wonder composed by Philip Vella to the lyrics of Gerard James Borg has continued to impress local critics with her fifth studio album release; The Fire. The brand new collection topped iTunes in Malta for more than two months with her first two singles; What I'd Give and The Person I Am both managing to peak at number #1 on iTunes and the radio respectively. The third single off the studio album bears the name Me Luv You Long Time and was initially used as a promo single.

Me Luv You Long Time, another track which is co-written by Ira Losco herself has just entered Malta's Top Ten With Nathan D on 89.7 Bay at position number #9, signalling the beginning of yet another successful track. The public have a tendency to ask for a Losco track and thus in return get the latest single. Promotion for this brand new track is gearing up nicely as the female vocalist has just wrapped up filming the music video, which is set to be produced by The Bigger Picture. Ira Losco is a guest writer for contributing her top five music choices from both the local and the foreign music scene. Published in Local Music News in collaboration with Jagged House has been presenting a montly blog written by Ira Losco, a former representative of Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest and one of the most recognised female vocalists in the country. Around a year ago, following an extended period of time off, Ira Losco returned to the local music scene with the track What I'd Give which won her several accolades. Soon after, the launch of both the album entitled The Fire and the second single, bearing the name The Person I Am featuring guest vocals by David Leguesse.

I’m currently writing this amidst crazy prep work for my next video for my Hot Summer Single Me Luv u Long Time. I’m obviously excited and slightly nervous about it there are a LOT of people on board this time…. The Bigger Picture taking care of all Direction/Production for the video of the third single off The Fire. I just can’t wait!!! Here go my Top 5 Tracks for the month. It's quite intriguing to denote that Ira Losco listens to tracks from all over the world including Europe, America and Australia. It is unknown whether she will be listening to anything Asian sometime soon.

Goin’ Crazy - Dizzie Rascal Feat. Robbie Williams (UK)

When I’d heard the Ghanaian British rapper first I hated that whole cockney thing. Don’t get me wrong…. I LOVE the cockney accent with a passion, I secretly do imitations, they crack me up, however I didn’t really warm up to the idea at first. Then I started to like ‘The Streets,’ cause of their unbelievable lyrical content, Lilly Allen’s wit and I slowly but surely started to watch out for Dizzie. He’s one hell of a writer!!! I love this collaboration with bad boy Robbie Williams, who is a great showman and vocalist, hands down!

Wild - Jessie J (UK)

This girl is on fire, she is inspiring, her strength is something, which I aspire to. Her voice…let’s not even go there…I haven’t heard a vocalist like her in years!!! Her range is  every singer’s  dream! She’s beautiful and talented. Plus I’m so chuffed I got to see her live on our island, she stole the show!

La La La - Naughty Boy (Feat. Sam Smith) (UK)

It seems my top 5 is all about the Brits! Naughty Boy, born Shahid Khan is a British writer/musician/producer/rapper. He is well known for producing two top-ten records for UK rappers Chipmunk and Wiley, with guest vocals featuring singer-songwriter Emeli Sande’ besides a strong writing and production partnership with the latter. He has worked with Cheryl Cole, Jennfier Hudson and Leona Lewis. This is one of those songs you sing along to endlessly….. all day long!!

Attracting Flies - Aluna George (UK)

I LOVE the chavved up version of fairytales we all know  so well in the video. Aluna’s voice is soothing and sexy at the same time. This is a pop song for sur,e but so sleek I just had to put it into my top5. I love her cheekiness and she is definitely an artist to look out for in future.

Acapella - Karmin (USA)

The first time I heard this track I was intrigued by how sexy this girl’s voice is. I love that little playful squeak in her voice and the raunchy lyrics.  The dynamic duo have really made their presence felt with their latest single, they were already quite significant in the US, but this single has really gotten people talking about them!!! I’ve posted the acoustic version because I think there’s so much to savour from this raw version.  It’s my number 1 for this week…best line in the song?? “never mind….bring the beat back!”

As always stay tuned to my facebook Fanpage for status/picture/video/music updates and BRAND NEW VIDEO updates THIS weekend!!! For those of you who STILL haven’t purchased The Fire …you can do so by clicking here!! The band and I had an awesome performance at Hondoq Ir-Rummien. Last Friday, the vibe was something out of this world.  We are now getting ready for The Beer festival on Sunday 28th July…dust dust go away!!!

Hehehe and also The Great Hal-Ghaxaq Festival on Tuesday 6th August in aid of Puttinu Cares. Both concerts are FREE entrance and I will be holding Meet & Greet sessions after each performance. Looking forward to meeting all of you!!! My Special Thanks this month go to One Studios, Nexos Lighting, The Atrium, Clinton at Hair Factory, Justin Brincat, Drew Warhurst, Godiva Topquality Hair, Lynne Salomone Reynaud and Brigitte Gauci Borda Dancers, Matthew Pace, GUESS Jeans Malta and  FCM Bank.

Ira Losco, one of the leading figures in the local music industry is experience a resurgence of success upon the release of her fifth studio album, The Fire which came about following an extended period of absence. The first two singles off the album were What I'd Give and The Person I Am, both of which climbed to the number #1 on Malta's Top Ten, the local chart put together by Nathan D on 89.7 Bay. In a statement by Ira Losco through her Official Facebook Page, it was revealed that the third single off the record will be the highly infectious track Me Luv You Long Time which was a sort of promotional single used to give an insiders' view to the studio album back in August last year when it was yet to be revealed.

Ira Losco, the artist who represented Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest back in 2002 with the track 7th Wonder achieving second place behind Latvia's I Wanna performed by Marie N is a regular contributor to having taken up the role of guest writer on a monthly basis. Within the article, Ira states her most favourite tracks during the month and there has been an intriguing mixture of genres from Icona Pop to Bruno Mars. Me Luv You Long Time is a pop/dance sort of number which is very much inclined to be heard on radios during the summer months making the decision for it as a single release extremely easy. Stay tuned to for all of the latest news about the local music scene.

Ira Losco, the most successul female artist in the country who represented Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest back in 2002 with the track 7th Wonder composed by Philip Vella and penned by Gerard James Borg recently joined as a guest writer but in her fortè as an artist joined Gianluca, the most recent representative at the Pan-European event with the track Tomorrow co-written by Dean Muscat and Boris Cezek for a special performance. Stay originally a track performed by Rihanna and Mikky Ekko was performed as a duet between the two notable artists who are both on a high.

TVPM, the daily afternoon programme hosted by Peter Carbonaro and Corazon has achieved a respectable following in the past couple of months and it should considering the amount of musical prowess it has been putting up. A range of guest performers including; Pamela, Glen, Deborah C and Ozzy Lino amongst others have all taken to the stage with Paul Giordimaina playing the piano. Since returning from the Eurovision Song Contest, Gianluca has been on a roll to be honest, performing at a number of events, the latest being the Isle of MTV, being one of two artists asked to sing during the annual event. On the other hand, Ira's latest album is one of the biggest things of the year 2013 and with more singles to follow, it seems that she might be wracking up awards a plenty by the end of the year. Stay tuned to for all of the latest news.

Published in Local Music News is proud to present another editorial piece by Ira Losco, former representative of Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest as well as one of the most popular female singers in the Maltese Islands. Following her return to the local music scene around a year ago, it seems that everything is moving right on track with both her initial singles What I'd Give and The Person I Am proving to be major hits as well as her latest studio album The Fire which peaked at number #1 on iTunes for more than two months.

Dear All, Summer is slowly creeping in and I’ve got a schedule that’s packed to the brim. I’ve also just gotten some incredible news about jet setting away again and playing amidst international stars and to huge crowds, which undoubtedly excites me!! Watch this space for more information! I’ve also started work on the NEXT VIDEO with ‘The Bigger Picture’ for the third single off The Fire. My lips are still tightly sealed about this one. Can’t wait to start filming it. It’s gonna be a blast.  Here goes my top five for the month of June!

Young and Beautiful - Lana Del Rey (USA)

When Lana Del Rey hit the music scene, I didn’t get it 100%. I couldn’t understand why the whining and the pining worked in a world where mass produced music was doing so well. But that’s probably why it worked. There are a few of us out there who like her way of turning each song into a 3 minute sob which tickles some musical taste buds. It’s a welcome change to all that thumping stuff we listen to on the radio. The song is also part of the soundtrack to “The Great Gatsby” which I’m dying to watch!

Come and Get It - Selena Gomez (USA)

Let’s make things crystal clear..I’m not a huge fan of Disney Club kids. I’m not a major fan of this song either, but when you’re choosing Top 5 songs for the month, they must be somewhat relevant and score the “singing along” points. Miss Gomez really does this track well. She’s turning into a real fox! Can’t believe her tender age (can’t believe she dated the Biebs either…eughhh) I really like the percussion in it and it’s very radio friendly, so I stuck it in here.

I Love It - IconaPop (Feat. Charli XCX) (SWEDEN)

I was in my teens during the late 90s. I remember wanting to do music with a passion so fervently that it was annoying to all those around me. Some of the bands I really liked at the time were Blur, Republica, Radiohead, Catatonia, The Cranberries, The Cardigans and loads more. During that time bands were VERY popular and most of them were fronted by real women. I guess THAT was really appealing to me and I couldn’t wait to front a band myself. During the same time the pop world was buzzing too and these two chicks who called themselves “Shampoo” were hitting the charts with songs like “Trouble.” They were a ton of fun and wrote the type of songs you would scream to while drinking thick shake and dipping fries into it. “I Love it” does this to me. Whenever it comes on the radio I roll my windows down and I sing to the top of my lungs. It’s an effortless pop song by the Swedish DJ Duo, Iconapop and it’s reminiscent of those carefree 90s days me thinks!

Treasure - Bruno Mars (USA)

I Love how everyone is going back to that glitzy, fun, disco sound. Bruno Mars, is totally on the ball with his new album “Unorthodox Juekbox” he seems to really be pleasing his audience with this one.  This is a feel good summer track which will I will gladly sip cocktails to, while strutting my stuff by the pool hehehe.

Up In The Air - 30 Seconds to Mars (USA)

When I first heard that Jared Leto was pushing his acting career to the side to pursue his song-writing/band one, I was sceptical. I thought he was a fine actor who chose dark and demanding roles and I thought he wouldn’t be as good a song-writer. I was however proven wrong after the first track to hit our airwaves. (previous singles were obviously released in their territory before they hit Europe) I especially like the short film by Bartholomew Cubbins which accompanies this song, featuring a number of well-known hand-picked personalities like Dita Von Teese.

As always stay tuned to my Facebook Fanpage for status/picture/video/music updates and also some rather silly stuff. In the meantime, for those of you who STILL haven’t purchased The Fire …you can do so by clicking on the link!! My next LIVE performance open to the public, is the ever so popular Beer Festival…let’s hope that dust doesn’t screw me up this time round again :( I will obviously be holding a meet and greet session to sign albums and pose for pictures (good at that ‘un ain’t I?) Followed by a massive performance at Hal-Ghaxaq where I will be performing alongside…guess who? Shhhhh!!!! Stay tuned to for another blog next month!

Dear All, I can’t believe how many of you have written to me to say they loved the Beland Concert in Aid of Puttinu Cares!!! I was overjoyed to meet a lot of you at the FIRST “meet and Greet” session I’ve had since the release of The Fire and many came over to sign their copies and take pictures. It is always so heart-warming to meet the people who are fundamental towards the success story of an album….and you were all there to say hello and tell me how much you love this album!! Watch this space for more information about upcoming gigs.

I’m also still impressed that for 7 …yes 7 weeks The Person I Am held the number one spot on 89.7 Bay’s Top 10, with the cherry on the cake being the entry of The Person I Am  at Number 1 on Bay’s Top 30, and staying there for 3 weeks. It’s always amazing to be amidst the international acts! Well enough talk, let’s get down to the nitty gritty!! Apart from succeeding on the local charts on 89.7 Bay, consistency was also key through the iTunes charts and for this, I would like to thank, ALL of you who support me throughout my endeavours!

Only Teardrops - Emmelie De Forest (Denmark)

One of the most well written songs I spotted in last Tuesday’s Eurovision Semi-Final. I like Emmelie’s execution of the song. It has its similarities to other songs in the international market right now, which makes it a good contender for the top spot in this year’s contest.

Robin Thicke - Blurred Lines ft. T.I., Pharrell (USA)

You may ask why Pharrell Williams features TWICE in my top 5 as you will see….well the reason is plain and simple, the man knows how to hit all the ‘sexy/naughty/funky’ buttons while writing/producing a record. This song’s video was no stranger to controversy after youtube removed it for sexual content woopsy heheh Robin Thicke however sure as hell didn’t need the unrated video to push this song, because it screams radio all the way!!!!

Giorgio Moroder: Racer (ITALY)

Giorgio, Giorgio, Giorgio…you are the reason why I ADORE Electronica/synth pop. I still remember my parents playing their LPs or the tracks blaring out of our radio those days. What I love about this 73 year old songwriter/record producer is that he has always moved with the times, yet holding on to that very unique sound which accompanied many through the 70/80s and which people, Like ME, still gag for till this present day. He is after all a person who has influenced many… besides giving us sound tracks to some of the most colossal movies during the time, “Midnight Express” and “Scarface.” Giorgio we bow down and salute you!!

Daft Punk: Get Lucky Feat. Pharrell Williams & Nile Rodgers (France/USA)

Where do I begin? The Ultimate French Dance duo to have ever graced the face of this galaxy? CHECK…..the sexiest coloured Rapper/producer/vocalist to hail from the US of A….CHECK……one of the coolest most influential Producer/song writer/musician/arranger/musician from the 70s till the present day who enlists Madonna, Diana Ross, Sister Sledge, Duran Duran and David Bowie…as people he has worked for…CHECK…Can the collaboration BE more amazing than this??? This is ONE track, which is going to be hot on our airwaves throughout Summer.

Gianluca Bezzina – Tomorrow (Malta)

Gianluca gets on Malmo’s Stage in Sweden tonight to represent us!!! I have no shadow of a doubt that his charm and charisma and above all his talent will make us all proud. The song written by Boris Cezek and Dean Muscat is a very sweet and sing along song, which I’m sure will capture the hearts of many. Following last Tuesday’s Semi-Finals, I’m sure the song stands a pretty good chance. As a sign of solidarity it is my Number 1 for this month yet again!!!

More information about The Fire concert dates will be available shortly right here!!! On my Facebook Fanpage and on my official website. Till then keep in touch with me by following me on Twitter/Facebook and Youtube. Tata!!! It is important to note that The Fire, the fifth studio album by Ira Losco has managed was the first by a local artist to be available on preorder and performed extremely well with sales rocketing it up to the pole position prior to being over taken for a brief period by Gianluca whom Ira has just ranked as number #1 in her respective list above. Stay tuned to for another blog next month!

It has been a great start to what looks like an amazing week full of live music – the Beland Music Festival kicked off in spectacular fashion last night with the participation of local heartthrob Kevin Borg who serenaded the crowd with his magical voice and charisma. The Beland Music Festival this year moved from the Market Square to Bulebel and one can say that the move was a success, the festival got bigger and if today’s concert was anything to go by one can easily say it got even better.

Barber’s Cut, a new upcoming band led by Kelly Busuttil opened proceedings and got the crowd going; showing that they indeed have potential. The audience seemed to have enjoyed the relatively unknown band, who mixed it up playing some of the most popular hits. They were followed by the talented Glen Vella and Pamela, who entertained the crowd with a number of popular cover versions. As the time went on, the crowd got bigger and bigger, everyone awaiting the arrival of Kevin Borg and when he finally took the stage Kevin received a hero’s welcome in Bulebel.

He kicked off proceedings with his Swedish Idol Winner’s single With Every Bit of Me and continued with a mix of cover versions and songs from his own repertoire. He closed the first part of the concert with his Malta Eurovisision entry, Needing You, where he was accompanied by former Eurovision representative Glen Vella, Pamela, Josef Tabone and Janice Mangion. The second part of the show was as strong and the crowd cherished every moment with cheering, waving and singing at the top of their lungs to Kevin’s hits. Kevin was clearly moved and described the event as being even better than his Swedish Idol final as he had never expected so many people to attend the event in aid of Puttinu Cares.

Kevin encouraged the people to attend and donate to this genuine cause. Tonight’s music festival will feature Malta’s top female artist – Ira Losco is set to take the stage for her first Summer gig and her first gig after the launch of her album The Fire which proved to be a major success. She is expected to sing some of her latest songs along with a few numbers from her previous records, she will be supported by The New Victorians an up and coming band and also Planet Seed fronted by Klinsmann. For more details on what to expect during the Beland Music Festival you can visit the programme here or their official Facebook Page.

It is important to note that on Thursday, the organizers behind the Beland Music Festival saw it fit to organize a big screen in order to support Malta’s bid in the Eurovision Song Contest – so we encourage you to join with your family and friends, grab your Maltese flags and on Thursday go and watch the Second Semi-Final of the Eurovision Song Contest in Bulebel as part of the Beland Music Festival. The atmosphere is expected to be electrifying as there is nothing more special than cheering for the Maltese representative together and creating a mini Eurovision atmosphere here in Malta.

Apart from enjoying the live music for a great cause, at the Beland Music Festival you can chill and relax, there’s a children’s area and a number of stalls where people can just sit there as the concert is ongoing. There is something for all the family and for all the music lovers it is something you surely can’t miss as apart from donating towards Puttinu Cares you would be also supporting the local talent who invest so much time and effort to deliver a great product. So make sure to visit the Beland Music Festival and donate something for a great cause. Stay tuned to for all of the latest news.

One can see the festival as an opening to the summer months activities as other activities take place all around the island during the summer months but most of them would not be held on such a grand scale. To organize such a massive event is not easy and Beland would not have been able to provide such a field with different artists were it not for the support they found from their sponsors. The event is free of charge but those in attendance are encouraged to give a small donation that will go directly to Puttinu cares as for another year, the event is being held in aid of Puttinu Care which works for such a noble case. So remember from the 10th of May to the 17th of May your entertainment spot should be in Zejtun at the Beland Music Festival. Stay tuned to for more information.

Track Number #9 off the fifth studio album by Ira Losco is entitled Dead or Alive (Save my Soul) and it seems that the public have grown extremely fond of the track, so much that they have bought it several times to make it peak at number #1 on the iTunes singles chart. Jagged House, the company that represents Ira Losco have already released two official singles in the form of What I'd Give, winner of the Best Video Award at the Malta Music Awards, and The Person I Am which features vocals by David Leguesse and has amassed several views through viral website, YouTube. It is yet unknown whether Dead or Alive (Save my Soul) will be officially released as a single but nevertheless, the public have a right to select the tracks which they enjoy listening to the most.

To signify the importance of the first two digital singles, official music videos were created and as a matter of fact, both tracks made it to number #1 on iTunes as well as on leading radio station, 89.7 Bay. The album itself entitled The Fire was at the top position of the chart for five consecutive weeks and despite sales still shifting at the moment, it finds itself at number #2 behind the album 21 by British singer/songwriter Adele. 'I keep re-confirming that The Fire keeps burning! So many positive comments which obviously make me ecstatic!' are the words which echoed from the mouth of Ira Losco this morning as the editorial team of got in contact to announce her latest success. We urge you to continue purchasing the record through the iTunes Digital Store and to stay tuned to for another blog from Ira Losco in a couple of weeks time.
