escflashmalta.com in collaboration with Ironic PR & Artist Management is proud to present a monthly blog written by Davinia, a two-time Malta Eurovision Song Contest participant, and currently one of the most recognised female vocalists in the country. Since emerging onto the local music scene back in 2011 with "Bottled My Teardrops", a number #1 hit on Malta's Top Ten with Nathan D on 89.7 Bay, she has been working in the studio night and day, doing what she enjoys doing the best. With her latest single "Ouch!" composed by Carlo Gerada with lyrics by Matthew Mercieca, Davinia has managed…
Ira Losco is back and she is back to stay – she took a substantial break from releasing anything new but around a year and a half ago she returned to the scene with the hit single ‘What I’d Give’ which released tones of airplay and occupied the top spot in the Bay Charts for a very long time – the rest was history. After lots of determination and hard work, Ira Losco set her sights on rewarding the public with their support through a concert something which she had not done in a long while; the public had plenty…
If Malta does truly want to succeed at the Eurovision Song Contest, I am going to make a suggestion, one which people seem to agree on. A duet featuring both Gianluca and Ira Losco. In reality, both are former representatives, both are talented and have versatility beyond compare. In three years, one of the artists who has truly shown potential for growth has been none other than Karen DeBattista, a female vocalist whose first venture in music came at the Summer Hit Song Contest back in 2011. Performing the song "Memoirs" composed by Mark Scicluna to the lyrics of Daniel Muscat was just the beginning, garnering traction when duetting with Thea Garrett, months shy after representing Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest. Since then,…
After an eventful contest on Saturday, we decided to look at the bottom end or right-hand side of the scoreboard. A quick analysis if you like. Firstly, San Marino’s first appearance in a Eurovision final was not a great success but marked a massive achievement for the tiny microstate. Whilst the song was not highly regarded, one cannot detract from the gargantuan efforts the Sammarinese delegating put in to their entry. I would say they should be very proud and although they did not win or come close. For San Marino, it is most definitely the taking part that counts.…
