Whilst the story of the Malta Junior Eurovision Song Contest unraveled at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta, an established local male singer/songwriter, Geordie DeBono was making a name for himself and his country at the Universong Festival in Tenerife. For the 3rd consecutive year, Malta was triumphant on "Una Stella Sta Nascendo", an Italian television programme which airs on Sky Italia. This year, the list of finalists included; Ethan Attard & Miguel Bonello, Mikhail Attard, Kelsey Bellante, Giorgia Borg, Kelsie Borg, Kassidy Calleja, Cherylis, Kelsey Farrugia, Kiana Fenech, Emma Muscat and Rachel Lowell.
