Italy: Rumours Suggest Selection of Emma Marrone

Whilst national selections have a habit of selecting the best from a pool of performers, the system in Italy is still very much based on what a professional panel of experts decide and it seems that the Italian delegation responsible for the participation in the Eurovision Song Contest are thinking of conducting an internal selection, one which will garner the support that Marco Mengoni enjoyed earlier this year. One artist who might be capable of replicating the hype and possible improve upon his seventh place is none other than Emma Marrone.

Emma Marrone was rumoured to have been the initial choice back in 2012, following her successful bid for victory during the Sanremo competition, swooping the top honour with her song Non è l'inferno co-written by Francesco Silvestre, Enrico Palmosi and Luca Saia. Nevertheless, the record label, Universal Music Italy, sought to continue promoting the female artist at home where she had successfully managed four number #1 albums, all of which have at least garnered platinum status. Emma is currently hoping to garner approval and success across Europe and is looking to release a brand new song, one entitled La Mia Città which could very much be a possible entry for the upcoming edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. The Italian media is buzzing about such a possibility and therefore, we instruct you to stay tuned to for more news as soon as it becomes available.
