Germany have officially announced their participation in the 2013 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest which is taking place in Malmö, Sweden following the victory of the song Euphoria performed by Loreen. It seems that despite the positive results that have been achieved in the past three years including a victory thanks to Lena Meyer-Landrut and the song Satellite, the collaboration between NDR and ProSieben comes to an end meaning that the selection process will consist of only one show. The talent throws that the collaborative effort organized produced the likes of the aforementioned Lena as well as this years' Roman Lob whose entry Standing Still finished in eight place.

The details about the selection process have been somewhat vague but it is believed that NDR will be either inviting singes and songwriters to submit entries or else literally select the participants of the selection themselves with a public vote being the final method of choice. The announcement of both the date and the venue will be made in due time but then again, it is to be noted that February is the month switch an evening show commencing at around 20:15 CET on Das Erste being tabled in by network executives. The last time that such a show took place was back in 2009 when Germany were represented by Alex Swings Oscar Sings with the song Miss Kiss Kiss Bang which only garnered 35 points languishing twentieth position.
