Greece: Early Rumours for Eurovision 2013

The Greek subsidiary of Universal Music is the main reason why the nation has not left the Eurovision Song Contest noting that they are forking out quite a lot of the respective fees which lead to participation. This year, the nation was represented by the beautiful Eleftheria Eleftheriou and despite the fact that she reached seventeenth position with the track Aphrodisiac, it was still somewhat of a fan favourite and did rank in the top ten with the televoting on the night as opposed to the jury which did not see the potential the second time round. It seems that the collaboration between the record label and ERT will continue in 2013 with a number of names already being mentioned.

The main artist who seems to be getting a lot of traction at the moment is Giorgos Sabanis, a well respected singer/songwriter who performs Pop, something heavily influenced by traditional sounds as has been known to be expected from Greece over the years. Their victory in 2005 with Helena Paparizou and the track My Number One fused all of the best possible cultural elements. It is quite interesting to note that her comeback has somewhat been influenced by the tracks that he sent forth to her record label and ones which has been very successful indeed. It is still extremely early to see what will happen in the coming months but stay tuned to escflashmalta.com as we bring you all of the latest as soon as it is released.
