As reported exclusively earlier this week by ESCflashmalta, yesterday was an important day for Maltese artists and this is due to the fact that three individuals were competing abroad for the main places. The artists were none other than Dominic Cini who was competing in Ukraine along with Romina Mamo and Gloriana Arpa Belli who were competing in the Universong Festival held in Tenerife, Spain. We have just learned through Clinton Paul's page on social networking website Facebook that Romina Mamo and her song "The Final Kiss" written by the same Clinton Paul and television personality Deo Grech finishing in a very respectable second place continuing the trend of success within this musical showcase. Claudia Faniello, one of Malta’s most popular female singers, has just released her new single "I Hate this Song". The song is taken from her upcoming European debut album “Convincingly Better” and will be a new step in the career of Claudia. Talent is always flourishing on the Maltese Islands and next Saturday, two well known singers will be representing our small nation in the Universong competition which takes place within the Canary Islands in Spain. In recent years, the Maltese artists have been extremely successful within this showcase and this year should be no different. In recent years, local television stations have uptaken a number of reality programmes with regards to music. The latest one bearing the name Arpeggi will be targeting an audience between seven (7) and fourteen (14) years actually. It will be a truly unique experience for the participants. The Maltese music scene is always welcoming new artists yet the latest one to crack it is surely Domenique who has been a part of the competitor list in the annual Junior Malta Eurosong for a number of years. The teenage artist has just released her debut single "Ucuh" which is written by none other than Mark Spiteri Lucas and Paul Ellul whose compositions have been quite successful in the past. This single is being released following the fact that she was the winner of the competition bearing the name "Sas-Sitta Teen Singing Challenge" held on Net Television. One of the well established artists on the Maltese Islands surely has to be Aldo Busuttil who will soon be representing the country in a festival within the confines of Turkey known as the "Cesme International Song Contest". This will be taking place from the 29th June 2010 till the 4th July 2010 in the city of Izmir. He will be joined in Turkey by Frederick Zammit. The tenor will be competing on behalf of Malta amongst a number of notable nations with the song "Amore Passeggero" composed by Philip Vella and written by Gerard James Borg. A total of fifteen countries are taking part in this festival including Germany, The Netherlands, FYR Macedonia, Russia, Latvia, Switzerland, Finland, Nigeria, Italy, Sri Lanka, Spain, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Romania and of course Malta. Many people believe that the local music scene is quite limited yet with a proper management and some investment, things can go a long way. Over the years, our country has seen a number of singers take centre stage at some big events. The latest singer to take up such a road is the popular Claudia Faniello. Local singer Marvic Lewis has been out of the limelight for quite some time actually having achieved success with her first album which bore the name "Indigo Struck" as well as her premier video "Scarecrow". In the last couple of months, she has been putting the final touches on her new album which will be entitled "These are the Roots". One of the local Maltese artists being Neville Refalo is currently competing with several other artists at this years' edition of the Song of the Mediterranean being held in Budva, Montenegro. The song which is in contention for victory is entitled Silver and is written by the singer/songwriter Clinton Paul.
