escflashmalta.com had the opportunity like in the past two years to speak to the winning artist and composer of the track, this year being none other than Deborah C and Mark Spiteri Lucas respectively. The Gozitan singer who is currently reading for a Bachelor of Arts Degree at the University of Malta is extremely happy with the victory stating she indeed 'did not expect it' and ultimately adding that it was even more positive to note that the 'jury and the public agreed unanimously' on the track which they have worked hard to present. She thanked all of the people who supported her from Gozo and Malta as well as her entourage for making this a possibility. Speaking to the composer of the track, he told us that since 2001, he has managed to finish on top on 'five different occasions' making this his 'third victory in six years'. He notes that it was a combination of teamwork which saw to the fact to break records in the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza making this the first entry 'to win both the public and jury vote within the same year'. The editorial board would like to congratulate all of the respective winners and better luck next time to all those who tried and did not succeed this time round.

The committee behind the competition led by Mark Azzopardi and including members of the escflashmalta.com editorial team have worked hard to include a number of innovations in the past two years noting the beginning of a seating area which would definitely keep the audience at bay as well as the official preview videos for each track to help aid in terms of promotion. One of the most endearing challenges that any music industry would have to conquer through various elements of time would surely be the absence of a male vocalist noting that in this day and age, there has been a lot of positive acclaim towards female performers who steadily rise in terms of numbers with the opposite sex somewhat declining at a rapid rate unfortunately. Nevertheless, it has to be noted that despite being in a minority, the last two representatives at the Eurovision Song Contest just happened to be male counterparts in the form of Kurt Calleja and Glen Vella respectively. Throughout the years, the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza has also represented this divide noting that there has never been an edition in which only a particular gender was present and that makes it somewhat more intriguing. When looking at the list of former winners of the competition, it is to be noted that from twenty editions in total, there has been at least ten males, either as soloists, part of a group or duet respectively and therefore, the numbers add up in quite the responsible manner as well. The next entry which will be further analysed and thus summing up the discussion above is that entitled Missjoni Impossibli composed by Philip Vella and penned by Rita Pace with the vocals provided by Ishmael Grech. Media.Link Communications have always sought to promote upcoming artists and therefore, this time, along with the committee of the competition, they have decided to work extremely hard to give as much exposure as possible and thus recording preview videos for each respective entries and uploaded through viral website, YouTube with additional analytic help offered by escflashmalta.com so that people would get to know the individuals behind the song a little bit better at the same time.

Listening to the track the very first time, one would get the idea that this could be somewhat about an intriguing adventure between two members of the opposite gender and indeed it is, in relation to a romantic encounter which they seem to be entwined within. Ishmael Grech is singing to his female companion that it will be somewhat impossible for their love to continue to blossom and this is because certain situations might strain their general dependency and ultimately, their love would be the first to suffer. The title of the track could be translated very swiftly into Mission Impossible and the relation between the adventurous tune and the title is definitely a particular idea of a James Bond movie. Despite the ever growing concern that things are not going to end up well between the two, the male performer gives into the idea that he will never give up and will continue trying because they promised that they would be there for each other till the end of time. Ishmael Grech is one of the youngest performers in the local music industry but surely, he could develop into one of the most notable names because he brings about a certain edge to each performance that is not seen too much. At twenty years of age, he brings about already a previous participation in the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza having taken part back in 2010 with the track Abjad u Iswed composed by Philip Vella and penned by Rita Pace.

Having a look at the individuals behind the track, it is to be noted that the composer brings about one of the most successful records ever in relation to the Eurovision Song Contest with Philip Vella composing the music for five entries in the renowned event, those coming in 2000, 2002, 2004, 2007 and 2008 respectively apart from coming extremely close earlier this year with the track Pure performed by Claudia Faniello. On all of the respective occasions, the lyrics were penned by Gerard James Borg but then again, when writing for this competition, his usual collaboration with singer/songwriter Rita Pace comes into force once more. It is to be noted that the track 1964 which Philip composed with the lyrics of Mark Amaira was the one which broke the two straight wins of Mark Spiteri Lucas and Joe Chircop pushing him in second place in the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza 2009. In the meantime, the lyricist of this track is of course, Rita Pace who last year was also part of the competition as a vocalist and a songwriter ultimately coming out with a trophy for penning the lyrics to the track Eternità for Janice Mangion to the music of Mark Scicluna. She is a veteran in the industry and will continue to impress the listeners in the years to come as she continues to write music and lyrics. You can listen to his entry in this years' competition just below whilst also hoping you will keep on reading escflashmalta.com for all of the latest news about the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza.

Throughout the years, the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza has paved the way for the beginning of a multitude of careers noting that most of the well known individuals in the local music industry have all put their name forward and competed within the showcase which has seen a number of notable winners including Claudette Pace, Miriam Christine, Annabelle Debono, Ira Losco, Amber, Claudia Faniello, Lawrence Gray, Eleanor Cassar and most recently Mike Spiteri. Last year marked the twentieth anniversary of the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza noting that it officially inaugurated back in 1983, only to stop in 1987 returning in 1997. Nevertheless, each edition was a huge success and therefore, Media.Link Communications made sure to support it each time it was organized. The committee of the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza led by television producer and host, Mark Azzopardi has worked hard in taking the competition to a brand new era hoping that each of the entries receives the same amount of exposure, working toward the recording of preview videos which could be access through viral website, YouTube. Exposure is key to any competition and thus with the videos along the weekly programme, Indifest, the local audience would get the chance to support local talent in the best possible way.

The 2012 edition of the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza features a host of talent noting that there are a number of newcomers as well as individuals who have been rightfully earning their place in the local music industry. Apart from meeting three (3) people each week, two (2) from the Established Category and one (1) from the Teenage Category, there are also a number of weekly special guests. Last week, the programme had the pleasure of welcoming two artists who have both had history in the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza, the first one being none other than Ludwig Galea who participated in the competition on three occasions, twice as a soloist being in 2001 and 2006 with the songs Ħalluni Ngħanni and Valuri 2007 and once in a group, having won the competition with Is-Sitta and the track Flimkien Nistgħu Nirnexxu in 2008. The second guest was a female by the name of Annabelle Debono who won the competition in the year 2009 with the track 1964 making it the first ever win for composer Philip Vella who worked with the upcoming lyricist Mark Amaira.

For the sixth programme of Indifest, Mark Azzopardi, the Chairman of this years' committee for the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza returns as producer alongside Lisa Libreri who has taken up the role of co-producer in the past four weeks. The role of producer is quite important to make sure that the television programme Indifest reflects the aim of the competition itself. In the past couple of years, things have not been so much in sync at times but this time round, things are relatively different so to speak. The programme which is broadcast live every Tuesday night is presented by Ronald Briffa, this years' male host of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2012 and Christine Haber, multiple host of the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza. In this weeks' edition, it is imperative to note that the acts competing in the Established Category who will be making an appearance are none other than Esilana with the song Tagħna L-Isbaħ Żmien composed by Ray Agius and penned by Alfred C Sant as well as Ishmael Grech who will be performing his song Missjoni Impossibli composed by Philip Vella with lyrics by Rita Pace.

The Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza is always looking to promote brand new talent and that is why the Teenage Category has always been promoted in the past couple of years. Week after week, there is a live performance by one of the ten competitors and frankly this is quite important due to the fact that 60% of the final vote will be based solely on this performance with members of the jury looking at the performances and marking the tracks as they please. This weeks' entry is none other than Il-Liberta composed by Ray Agius, penned by Evelyn Saliba La Rosa and Michael Haber and then finally performed by the duet known as Antoine & Kayleigh. People who will be watching the show this week will be pleased to know that the special guests will be none other than former winner of the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza Kaya who most recently took part in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest as well as the former runner-up of the same competition Janice Mangion who also took part in this years' edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest, making her debut there. So tonight on NET Television at 20:30 CET, make sure to tune into another programme of Indifest.
