The Junior Eurovision Song Contest is surely a very popular family event here in Malta and also a showcase in which our younger generation of stars can express themselves through the medium of song. Our nation has participated since the initial event which was held in the capital city of Denmark, Copenhagen. We give the event some extra exposure as it gets closer and therefore, that is why, we are continuing our feature "An Expert Opinion" today. We are going to be taking up each respective entry as drawn by the European Broadcasting Union just three weeks ago.

Our four experts have given us their comments and voted but you have to vote for each entry as well because the final result will be 80% Jury and 20% Poll Voting. Today, we are set to discuss the Belarussian entry for the event which will be performed within the twelfth position during the evening. The young singer, Daniil Kozlov, will perform the song "Muzyki Svet!".

Biography (As Published by Junior Eurovision.tv)

Muzyki Svet! Daniil Kozlov will present this song at 2010 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. His parents say that music accompanies their younger sixth child since his first days. A piano and a violin, a flute, a guitar and even a harmonica sound in the Kozlovs’ house all the time. The kid fell asleep listening to Mozart and Beethoven. Maybe that is why he started singing when he was three.

When Daniil was nine, he took his first lesson from a skilled teacher Nelli Dukova at the pop-studio Allegro Nova. The teacher and the pupil understood each other from the first sight. After one year of successful lessons Danik (this name his parents and friends usually use) started to participate in different international and national contests. 13-years-old musician has already won 12 prestigious musical competitions. In his native town he is lovingly called the golden voice of Zhabinka.

When Danik explained how the song Muzyki Svet (The Light of Music) appeared, he said: "I often listened to Moonlight Sonata. It sounded in my head. I whispered it for a long time. And then a new music came out. It was something very close but not the same. Both compositions mixed in my mind. Then the idea to write a song about music was born. The main point is that music is life and everything around us".On the stage, Daniil Kozlov will appear with his friend - Yan Aladov. He was born in Minsk in a family of famous musicians. His great-grandfather – Nikolay Aladov – was one of the founders of Belarusian school of composition.

OK it’s hard going second in these contests. On the good side the singing is really nice and the chorus is very good. The key change is also not bad. However I really found the intro dreadful, which is a pity as it is not even original and is totally out of place with the song. I would get rid of it and actually think it should not be allowed use another piece of music. The verse also could use some improvement. Overall not bad but not a winner.

Ylenia Vella: 6 from a possible 10

Another song featuring the piano. It is a song full of build-up melodies which make the song enjoyable and are followed by three long notes. In the end there is a contrast between the high note of the singer and the softness of the piano which really stands out.

Donna McCaul: 6 from a possible 10

Very nice sweet voice. I think the song maybe a bit too big for his voice but well done to him for holding it well.

Annabelle Debono: 7 from a possible 10

The singer surely has a lot of potential, however I feel that the song is once again a bit too old-fashioned and mature for Junior Eurovision. I also didn't understand why the song starts with an excerpt from a piano Sonata by Beethoven....maybe the lyrics say something about him?

Result

Well this is the weakest song in quite some time according the our experts here. The three performers believe that the song is below average but in the meantime the singer has an exceptional voice. The song scored a total of 24 points from a possible 40 points and that is really cutting it close to the halfway point. In fact just checked out and this entry currently ranks last. Considering their great achievements in the past, I cannot see them finishing last even because of the fact that they have been able to overcome such an effect before hand.
