Sweden: SVT Looking to Convince Tommy Körberg
Written by Marc Calleja BaylissOne of the trickiest situations in the Eurovision Song Contest is surely picking the representative for the host nation and Sweden have always been known to put in a lot of effort in selecting their entry through the annual Melodifestivalen. The showcase for Swedish artists has always been organized at an extremely high level and it seems that the country has recaptured some of the glory of the former days having managed to finish in third place in the competition in 2011 with the track Popular sung by Eric Saade and then ultimately winning in 2012 with the song Euphoria as performed by Loreen. It seems that the Swedish broadcaster, SVT is already working hard on getting big names to enter the competition with two time representative Tommy Körberg in negotiations at the moment.

Despite the fact that Tommy Körberg has already represented Sweden on two previous occasions, the first time being in 1969 and the second time being in 1988, he has still not managed to rank within the top ten even though he was extremely close in his last appearance which was almost put on halt when he was extremely sick having to withdraw from the final dress rehearsal which his composer, Py Backman took over in terms of performance. It was something which had never been done before actually and will most likely not happen again. Nevertheless, the fact that they are working hard to get Tommy to enter the Melodifestivalen shows that this time round, they would like to get it right because following victories by Sweden, the results have not been utterly optimistic with Christer Bjorkman finishing in twenty second position and Roger Pontare in seventh place in 1992 and 2000 respectively.
