The 1998 edition of the Malta Song for Europe remains to be one of the most interesting competitions to have ever been held in our country due to the fact that it breathed a wave of new talent, two particular artists who would ultimately go onto represent Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest on multiple occasions, one of them being a female by the name of Chiara who would almost bring the event home and the other one being Fabrizio Faniello who continuously represents the country in frantic fashion overseas. In the past couple of years, the comeback of one of Malta's biggest exports has been rewarded by the amount of time and effort he puts into his projects. He has become somewhat a star in Asia with people knowing him as an artist, and buying his latest record Kasmaran which features his hit songs recorded in Indonesian.

His latest single success coming off the album is for the track Aku Punya Dia which many people will remember as to being Heavenly in his sophomore album When We Danced. The track originally composed by Paul Abela and penned by Georgina Abela has been reworked by Pongki Barata. I must say that it does not really sound any different and when Fabrizio sings these songs again, his fans will clearly become reminiscent of the beautiful ballads he had sung in the past. For the past two years, Fabrizio has tried to return to the Eurovision Song Contest believing that he does have a score to settle and his initial track entitled No Surrender finished in fourth place whilst this years' track I Will Fight For You (Papa's Song) finished in a respectacle sixth place. He has garnered good points from both juries and tele-voting so with the right track. he will definitely go back there. The latest track in Indonesia though is currently found at number #3 in the official top forty and that is a huge achievement for someone who did not have a connection with the nation up until a couple of months ago. Stay tuned to escflashmalta.com for all of the latest on Fabrizio Faniello and other local artists.
